Stand up for your freedom to install free software

Post by Anjum Butt »

Dear All,

Microsoft's is requiring hardware manufacturers to enable a measure called UEFI Secure Boot on computers for Windows 8 compatibility program.

This feature will prevent us from installing Linux or any other free operating system on our own computers, and will provide Microsoft a lock-in to force people to use Windows.

Further more, this method can also be exploited by Microsoft or computer manufacturers to discriminate operating system from running on the system.

Free software foundation (FSF) has started a campaign demanding computer manufacturers implement the UEFI Secure Boot scheme in a manner that allows computer users to install free operating system.

Please read and sign this declaration:

More will follow :)
