Download Manager for Linux

Post by dawood.muslim »

Hello Friends,
Is there any standard download manager available for linux with plenty of options like pause, resume etc.
And is there any download manager for linux which does not requre any x session and can be run in the commandline?

What do you mean standard?
I've used d4x. While it is has very nice gui and is feature rich, the downloads were slow and occasionally got corrupted causing the download to start from the beginning. But it is popular so you might have a better experience with it.

Hi
As fawad told, when you add a -c option , wget will resume the download. Without -c option, it will start download from the begining. To know more about wget issue command "man wget".
Remember: To resume download, you should be in the same directory where you left your download last time.

I personally use prozilla, which happens to be a CLI utility and much like DAP. It supports all your requirements as well. To add to its CLI features it also had a GUI through GTK libraries, that is if you want to use the GUI enabled app as well.

Happy and Fast Downloading!

Use DownThemAll

Post by tahiralmas »

Hi,
Try DownThemAll plugin for FireFox , you can directly add link in download queue. Pause, Resume and you can also split your download upto 10 sections to increase speed. like DAP and FlashGet in Windows.

What about Multiget ??
Home Page:
http://multiget.sourceforge.net/
The click on Download.

If want to see screenshots of this lovely Download Manager:
http://multiget.sourceforge.net/screenshots.html

I enabled downloading of a file form 5 servers, and it downloaded that for me with 6-7 KB/s.
It supports multiple downloading!!!.
