Try tcpdump while you are trying to telnet to 8080. Turn full verbosity on. It might help to debug the issue. Sounds crazy but have you tried resetting the router?

I beg to differ. In our experience, we had the best experience with reiserfs on aufs. My cache at times have quite a low number of incoming requests where diskd becomes really slow. If you have a 24 hour high load serving squid cache, diskd can be a good choice. Otherwise, I would stay stick with au...

LFS is the correct answer. You have the choice and the extreme flexibility at hand. BTW you can shrink Slackware 10.1 to less than a 100 Megs as I have experienced.

Guys, Ubuntu is very stable IMHO and runs everything like charm. People have started to switch to Ubuntu in my office because they find it faster, stable and more eye candy than windows. Oh btw, Beagle runs perfectly fine on Ubuntu Hoary and most of my office is impressed by the looks of it. Cheers ...

Any review of FC4 so far. Whats the result of the new variant. Anyone using FC4, let us know the result and improvements of the newer fedora. I have been using FC4 since the last week of June and believe me on more than one occasion, I have cursed myself when I decided to replace Ubuntu with FC4. I...

asaddotcom,

You keep on asking for spoonfeeding. Adzapper as firstly me and then LF pointed out is a pretty neat tool for adzapping. No, its not bulk software but an add-on module (if you prefer it this way) for squid. Please RTFM!!

Is there a space between "with" and "ldap" ? If there is, then remove it. It should be like this "--with-ldap" without the quotes (offcourse!).

Faizan, For configuring squid, you really need to understand how it works and how to configure it. If you search the forum, you will find tons of links and complete configurations literally spread around. Running squid is the same across all distribution. The only difference is enabling it as a boot...
