.net & subdomain

Post by mrkkhattak »

Assalamualaikum,

sorry this is quite off the topic question, but u ppl may help me :-)

we are doing a project in .net and C#, a free web hosting with subdomain project, but dont know that how to create subdomain programmatically by C# coding.
as the user will fill the member forms and will become the member , he will get a url like http://user.domain.com i have no idea about subdomain creation dynamically.

if anyone has any idea about subdomain creation programmatically, pls let me know.

it would be running on win2k + IIS

Thanks in advance ... !

umm can`t you involve a linux server for this purpose?
use apache rewrite rules to set user domains and for redirecting to your2k machine?
when user will access user.domain.com,apache will redirect him to win2k machine where he could do whatver he wants to.

User-->Apache(rewrite then rediect) -> Win2k

i dont know it makes sense or not but i think it could be done

i dont think so that there is any rewrite module for IIS
