qmail port 465

Post by linux_penguin »

AOA,
If i have to run qmail on port 465, then what changed i should do in qmail-smtp script. Currently i m using script from www.lifewithqmail.org.

Second if i have to use squirrelmail with https (port 993), then what changed are required. Should i seclect port 993 during squirrelmail configuration? and should i do more things???

Please help me regarding this issue. Please clear my concepts regarding this issue.

Thanks

you appear confused. why don't you explain what you are trying to do, and why?

qmail does not support ssmtp (port 465). you will need to use stunnel or ucspi-ssl if you truly need to use ssmtp. otherwise, there is the qmail-tls patch that adds starttls support to qmail-smtpd on port 25. also, port 993 is imaps, not https (port 443).

Dear linux_penguin,
Salam,

You need to edit your /var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smtpd/run

FYI, http://forum.qmailrocks.org/archive/ind ... -1103.html

that will not work!

ssmtp is more than just running an smtp server on a different port. ssmtp requires both sides of the connection to use ssl.

You are right but he did not give more details. So, in my assumption he need this and his clients will use port 465 instead of port 25.
