Installing Pure command base linux

as salam o alekum,

i just got a pentium I laptop with 3GB HD and 32Mb ram ... i want to install command based linux into it... can any body help me how can i install linux that way so, it consumes less space ... and i also want linux to use the usb, infrared ports and also the sound card ... well i dont know the make of that ... but i hope there must be a general driver to make all these things functional ...

When during installation when u reached package selection then select packages according to your requirement, select text base packages.
I am sure your problem will be resolved.

well I know Slackware 10.1 can easily be installed with
KDE within 1500 MB, I did that.

you can choose not to install KDE or GNOME, and install some
other X desktop environment like 'blackbox' or 'fluxbox'. I think they
will run on your PC.

anyway, Slackware will be an excellent choice for you in my opinion. and
it should take less space than 1500 MB.
