WiFi question

My question is not related to 'linux' only, so i'm posting it here in the General section. I'm a newbie so my question might be pretty blatantly stupid.

I have a pc which has a wireless card. I have DSL on it. Can I share that internet connection with my lappy which too has a wireless card?
Or do I have to get a router or something?

Oh and by the way, just out of curiosity, how much does a wireless card cost anyway?

i see no reason why you can't share your connection through it. i'd recommend getting the laptop and desktop to communicate with each other before trying to set up sharing. that way, if you run into problems, you'll know that it's sharing you have trouble with, not the wifi link.
