zAM, fawad is right, the only way to achive this is through a volume manager. Current options are: 1. LVM 2. LVM2 3. EVMS Your choice will be limited by the distribution you use. RedHat 9 supports only LVM. Fedora Core supports LVM2. Last time I checked, slackware didn't had a volume manager builtin...

I've been creating live CDs for sometime now, and the problem you are facing is exactly the same that I faced. Here are a few things to note. 1. Create a unionfs / squashfs / whateverfs image of your system. 2. Place this image somewhere in the CD's tree. like on the root of CD. 3. Now you'll need t...

Re: Linux Rocks!
Depending upon what you wish to do with it, oppertunities exists for some while do not for other.
For example, there are more jobs for network administrators, php developers, etc.
If you just wish to use linux, you can use it as your desktop instead of windows.

Aoa, Strange, from what you described, it looked like a hardware compatibility issue. Can you check the disk space on the partitons? Make sure that you have a couple of MBs space free on /tmp and /var you can find that by running: df -h /tmp /var Make sure the bios settings are correct. Also try rem...

Re: no Login on reboot
Let me put some light on the situation. 1. HAL is a hardware abstraction layer, it provides the linux system with capability to make hardware just work. 2. System message bus (DBus) provides programs with capability to talk to each other about system hardware changes, like new printer added. 3. Cups...

Re: Salam
Try to get fedora core :) Asad, never recommend Fedora Core to anyone, it is an experimental distro, and for newer people, handling it will be a real problem. Newer people should try Ubuntu. And people wanting to try RedHat Enterprise, should go for StartCom Linux AS . Otherwise, you should go for ...

The user account created at the end of installation is the one that should be used to do basic adminstrative t...

I use KDE 3.4 as default desktop, but i am thinking of switching to Gnome because of its superior HID.
